A warm welcome
For new life and new beginningsNaming ceremonies are beautiful alternatives to religious christenings or baptisms. They can still include spiritual references, readings and songs if you wish, but there is absolutely no requirement for them to do so. All the ceremonies I conduct are created bespoke to each person and family.
Naming ceremonies are often held in order to welcome babies or young children into the world, but they can also be held for older children, adopted children, or for adults who have changed their name.
Whatever the circumstance, naming ceremonies offer a wonderful opportunity to welcome and celebrate new life and new beginnings.
“…Over the last few months my husband and I had the pleasure of working with Michelle for our son’s naming ceremony/1st birthday party, and I can confidently say it was an absolutely incredible experience. It was always so clear that the most important thing to her was that the day was exactly how what we wanted, no matter what! Michelle truly has an unwavering dedication to going above and beyond expectations. She didn’t just meet our special requests; she exceeded them. She introduced brand new ideas to make the ceremony uniquely ours every step of the way…”

Naming ceremonies for babies and children offer parents the chance to officially name, as well as make promises to their child, before their family and friends.
They also provide an opportunity to formally acknowledge guide-parents (alternatives to godparents) if you choose to have them, and additionally, for them to make their own promises. A guide-parent (or whatever you choose to call them) will hold a significant role in the child’s life as they grow and develop, being someone they can always rely on.
I can make your ceremony magical for both you and your guests – and for your children, if they are old enough to take part. I can craft your ceremony to reflect why their name was chosen, what you wish to promise them, in addition to any other’s hopes and dreams for their future. And also create mini rituals within the ceremony to suit the age of the child or children, making them feel extra special on their day.
“…Michelle put so much effort and time into the day that many guests asked how long Michelle and I had been friends as she captured so many details of our lives and the journey we had to get my little boy. I wasn’t 100% sure if I really wanted to have a naming day, but gosh I am glad I did, Michelle made it perfect and helped me to undertake many special little tasks that meant so much to us…”

Namings for adults
Naming ceremonies for adults are incredible affirmations of rebirth. It could be that someone has transitioned, or is in the process of transitioning, from one gender to another, and has chosen a new name for themselves. Perhaps someone has overcome addictions or abuse and chosen a new identity. Or maybe a person has completed their divorce and decided to change their surname to suit their new circumstances.
Whatever the reason for you to choose a new name, or revert to an old one, it is a momentous event in your life, which should be marked.
You may choose to quietly raise a glass of wine with me, in an individual ceremony, mark the occasion with a select group of friends, or shout from the rooftops and have an extravaganza!
Whatever your style, I would be honoured to be involved and make your ceremony perfectly unique to you.
“…Glowing with love and happiness tonight after our amazing day…”

How it works
Working with me to create your naming ceremony is very simple – and lots of fun too!
The first step is to get in touch for a chat about your ideas, then if you choose to book me we will meet in person, or by video chat, to start planning.
I will then write you a completely bespoke ceremony script, leaving plenty of time for you to make any changes you may wish.
When the big day comes around I will arrive early to make sure everything is ready for us, then conduct your perfect ceremony just the way we planned. I only ever officiate one ceremony per day, so my time is completely yours. After the ceremony I will send you a commemorative copy of your unique script.
My fees are very simple – no matter how many extra elements you wish to include in your ceremony, the fee remains the same, no add-ons, no extras. So, go to town! Have whatever is meaningful to you, wherever and whenever you wish to make your memories.
For more on how the process works, see my FAQs page… then get in touch for a chat!
“…Thank you from the very bottom of my heart for such a precious gift that you gave us today. It was so amazing and something we will all remember for ever…”
